A coordinated European crackdown took place last week against one of the largest illegal IPTV networks.
Ten countries, including Sweden, took part in the operation, which was supported by Europol and Eurojust. Coordinated raids in several countries took place, which led to the identification of over 100 suspects and the arrest of 11 people. Over 110 house searches were conducted, and at least 29 servers were taken down, according to a press release from Europol. Furthermore, over 560 resellers were identified, and over 1.6 million Euro assets were seized.
As always, when it comes to international organized crime, it is difficult to access the people high up in the food chain. Regarding illegal IPTV, there are always servers and backup servers in different countries. These extensive efforts are important to the possibilities of actually being able to seize enough servers and take down more than a single services.
