Today, the Patent and Market Appeal Court (PMÖD) published its verdict regarding the person behind the illegal IPTV service Dreamhost.
The Appeal court reached the same conclusion as the Patent and Market Court: a conditional sentence and 100-day fines. The Appeal court also sentenced the person to pay SEK 1.7 million to the rights holders.
The police investigation was initiated following a report by the Rights Alliance in 2019. In some cases, these investigations take a long time due to the cross-border nature of the crime and the fact that much evidence must be obtained from abroad. The complexity of the investigations and the large amount of information, as well as priorities from the Police and Prosecutor’s Office, also play a role in the long investigation times.
